At the Airdrie Animal Health Centre, we offer full-service dental cleanings which include cleaning, scaling, polishing and dental radiographs. Our dental cleanings are performed under anesthesia to allow us to ensure we can fully provide proper cleaning in your cat’s mouth. During the dental cleaning, our doctors can perform dental surgeries if they are necessary.
Dental health issues can present in a variety of different ways. Signs your cat may be suffering from an oral health issue could include refusing to eat, having pain when eating, having inflamed and bleeding gums or having a foul odour to their mouth. If you are concerned that your cat may be suffering from one of these complications, our experienced veterinary professionals can assess your pet’s mouth with an oral exam.
One of the more common oral health complications that cats experience is feline tooth resorption. When this occurs, the root of cats’ teeth resorbs, leaving just the crowns behind. This oral health issue can be very painful for your cat and may lead to other problems such as refusal to eat. The causes of feline tooth resorption are unknown, and this problem can occur spontaneously. Thankfully our experienced dental surgeons are able to remove these teeth and restore your beloved pet to their healthy, comfortable state.
